As you may have guessed, we get excited about anything to do with Flowers, Plants and Gardening in General. We are constantly learning and discovering unique or better ways of doing what we do. We look forward to proudly showing off our accomplishments and seeing other people's floral works of art.
One important focus of WRGC is Floral Art. Many of our members enjoy using plant material of all kinds to create artistic and creative designs. We have a number of activities and opportunities for our members to learn, practice and display floral art creations. These activities described in detail below, include:
Floral Art Novice Group with instruction by one of our members,
Floral Circle, a group of members with special interest in continued learning and creating with flowers.
Judged Parlour Shows at some of our meetings,
Displays at Semiahmoo mall, Show Guidelines, definitions and Entry Forms are provided for members to use.
Trophies are awarded for some of these activities.
Floral Art Novice Group
Novice classes in Floral Art are available to interested members who are eager to participate in the yearly Parlour shows.
Members interested in learning about floral art and developing basic skills can join novice classes held by a member of our club. A small group meet regularly to discover and practice the principles of floral design and making different kinds of arrangements. They then use this knowledge and skill to enter the clubs regular Parlour shows.
Floral Circle
Club members who have enjoyed and excelled at the novice classes may join the Floral Circle. This group meets monthly and enjoys learning new activities and techniques involving floral art through invited speakers and practice projects. They also create floral arrangements for sale at the annual Plant and Bake Sale in May. Along with entering the Judged Parlour shows at the club meetings, the Floral Circle members plan and exhibit at the Spring Mall Show at Semiahmoo Mall.

Floral Art Shows & Events include:
Parlour Shows
Four or 5 times a year at monthly meetings, WRGC holds a Parlour Show, which any club member can enter. A schedule for each show is created for members to know what to enter. This includes exhibits of flowers or produce grown by members, and exhibits of floral art created by members. A judge views each entry and ribbons and trophies are awarded.

Spring Floral Circle Show
The Spring Floral Circle Show is a themed display of floral art held in a local mall every spring for public viewing. Floral Circle members each present a display based on a theme, including a floral art exhibit. Past themes have included The History of White Rock, St. Patrick’s Day, Miniature Gardens, and Celebrations. Note: This display is not judged and is purely for our enjoyment.

Fall Flower Show
Every September, the WRGC presents a Fall Flower Show at Semiahmoo Mall. This is open for any member to enter. It includes plant exhibits with an emphasis on dahlias, floral art as well as miniature designs. Exhibits are professionally judged for trophies and ribbons.

Trophies
The WRGC has a collection of trophies that are awarded to its members who enter the various floral shows throughout the year. Several have been donated by various White Rock organizations and well-known individuals over the years. The history of the winners tagged on the trophies is an interesting historical record.
